What’s Hot in Makeup Now

Trends in fashion and beauty come and go, and in this increasingly fast-paced world, knowing what’s hot ups your beauty factor.

So what’s how in makeup now? Here are some of the latest trends in makeup and beauty:

Bold lip colours
Bright, bold and loud colour is making a comeback on the runway for lip colours, with shades such as bright reds, purple, fuchsia and pink being some of the favourites. Don’t be afraid to experiment and show off your daring side in these shades that make everyone really take notice of your beautiful lips.

Natural is better
Now that the focus is on the lips, colour on the face can be kept to a minimum to make it more natural. The makeup of choice among professionals and ordinary women is now mineral makeup because of its fine powder finish that glides on more smoothly on the skin than your usual makeup made from synthetic ingredients.

Long lashes
Eyes are also getting attention and what spells sexy more than long and bold eyelashes? One of the hottest trends right now are permanent fake eyelashes or “falsies”. Salons have popped up all over the country that are specially dedicated to eyelash extensions. These usually last for up to 6 weeks before needing replacement. If you do not want to have fake eyelashes, you can use a volumising mascara that make your lashes look thicker and longer.

Full brows
Gone are the days of pencil thin eyebrows, as full eyebrows reminiscent of Brooke Shields during the late 80′s to the supermodels of the 90′s make a comeback.

Shades of blue
Colours such as aquamarine, seafoam, torquise, cobalt, navy blue and midnight blue are not only big on the runway, they are the hottest colours of the season as well. Shades of blue are usually very flattering whatever your skin tone and accentuate your eyes when used with the right shading.

No to overtanning
A lot of women love having a good tan that some would go to extreme lengths just to get that bronzed look. If you plan to tan, go easy on the tanning bed and instead try other options such as self-tanners and spray tanning that reduces your exposure to harmful UVA and UVB rays. Choose the right kind of tanning product that leaves you with that glowing sun goddess bronzed look instead of an overbaked shade of awkward orange. Before any kind of tanning session, make sure to exfoliate your skin properly so that you get an even tan without any splotchy areas where you have an uneven skin tone.

Most of all, what stays on top of the trends in any season is clear and beautiful skin. Proper skin care should be a top priority, as having that clear face is the perfect palate for any kind of makeup trend that you would like to try.
